Hiorth and Østlyngen were one of the most important furniture companies in the 1930s and in the time after the war. It was forward -looking and innovative. For a while, Finnish Alvar Aalto's laminated furniture produced on license. The collaboration with Alf Sture led to a variety of models. In a special class, the armchair is 1036, which is still produced. Arne Hiorth's iconic chair 103/80 can be found in Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece Fallingwater. Other designers who put Hiorth and Østlyngen on the map were Arne Tjomsland and Sven Ivar Dysthe. The interior design assignments include Hotel Continental, the royal ship Norway and the Prime Minister's Office.
